The VA MISSION Act of 2018 is a law that gives veterans more access to health care, expands benefits for caregivers, and improves the VA’s workforce. The law was signed into effect on June 6, 2018.
The MISSION Act is a program that provides increased access to healthcare for Veterans who aren’t able to get the care they need from a local VA. Eligibility criteria based on health needs and circumstances determine whether a Veteran qualifies for this program.

Eligibility for community care is based on a veteran’s health needs and circumstances. Veterans can usually receive care at a VA medical facility regardless of their eligibility for community care.
